Wedding Florist Assistant
Part time, 18-23 hours per week, year-round remote work and seasonal in-person work.

We’re excited to be adding a Wedding Florist Assistant to our team. The Wedding Florist Assistant will contribute to many aspects of the farm-to-venue wedding flowers operation from customer communication to packing and delivering the finished flower arrangements. The position consists of 10-15 hours of remote work per week year round, and on site and off site work from 9AM to 5PM on Saturdays six months out of the year (May through October). Must be available all Saturdays May through October. The remote work will be customer communication and marketing, while the in-person work will be delivering flower arrangements with the occasional light floral design work. The Wedding Florist Assistant is an at will position.
Pay begins at $20 per hour with opportunity to grow over time for the right candidate

Highly organized and attentive to details

Ability to use Google Workspace and Cloud, Meta Business Suite, Facebook, Instagram and other social media, file sharing and virtual communication tools
Reliable cell phone with data plan
Reliable and insured vehicle
Small SUV or larger sized vehicle preferred
Valid driver’s license
Reliably commute to Oneco, 06373 or planning to relocate before starting work
Familiarity with main roads in central and eastern Connecticut
Interest in learning about seasonal Connecticut-grown cut flowers
Interest in learning about the wedding industry
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and ability to perform moving, bending and kneeling
Ability to work in outdoor conditions at wedding venues
Delivery driver experience preferred
Sales and/or customer service and/or administrative experience preferred

Remote Work Essential Functions:
Maintain 3 hours of office hours per day, 4 days per week
Respond to all messages from customers and potential customers during the next office hours session
Communicate with customers regarding our services and their wedding flower needs
Advise potential customers about seasonal availability of flowers
Assist customers and potential customers in choosing their wedding flower arrangements
Prepare quotes, contracts and invoices for wedding flowers customers
Produce educational materials about our services for our website and social media
Maintain a spreadsheet of potential customers
Maintain a spreadsheet of customers who have booked our services
Maintain a calendar of booked weddings and other events
Reach out to past customers to obtain reviews and photos
Communicate with wedding venues, wedding planners, photographers and other wedding vendors
Build relationships with other wedding vendors to grow our clientele
In-person Work Essential Functions:
Arrive at Sterling Flower Farm at 9am on Saturdays (May through October)
Assist wedding florist in simple/light flower arranging, such as adding greenery to centerpieces
Pack flower arrangements securely for transport
Load vehicle with flower arrangements for transport
Confirm details of wedding flower order prior to transport
Accompany florist to wedding venue and help set up larger weddings
Independently deliver and set up flower arrangements using own vehicle for smaller weddings
